Russia has assigned the control over external labor migration to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported by the publication "Vedomosti."
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be the main responsible body for the new migration policy by presidential order. According to the "Interfax" agency, a system will be created to attract orderly migrants in order to reduce the flow of illegal migration, lessen the social burden, and prevent conflicts.
According to representatives of the ministry, consolidating the powers will provide the Ministry of Internal Affairs with all the necessary tools to address these tasks.
