Cases of seasonal influenza are sharply increasing in the regions of Russia. Experts note that currently, one in every hundred people in the country is infected with the flu. In some regions, the number of patients almost doubled within a week. Doctors and epidemiologists, keeping the current situation under constant control, warn that the peak of the epidemic is still ahead.
According to medical workers, the Hong Kong influenza A (H3N2) strain is the dominant type of influenza in the current autumn-winter season. This virus is highly contagious and dangerous due to its rapid development and serious complications. Pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and people with chronic diseases are especially at risk.
Experts note that Hong Kong flu is an acute viral disease that primarily affects the respiratory tract. The disease manifests with high fever, severe intoxication, muscle pain, and headache. In some cases, nausea, decreased appetite, and digestive system dysfunction can also be observed.
For reference, this influenza strain was first identified in Hong Kong in 1968. Today, it continues to spread in various regions of the world as a seasonal flu with a mutation. Doctors urge the population not to be indifferent to their health, to seek medical help as soon as the first symptoms appear, and to strictly follow the rules of prevention.
