Russian National Team Reacts to Safonov's Success at PSG


Goalkeeper Matvei Safonov saved four penalty shots in the post-game shootout, securing Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Flamengo in the Intercontinental Cup final. Russia's national team's Telegram channel shared a photo of PSG players lifting Safonov into the air in celebration following the final whistle.

The caption read "Our Motya." Matvei Safonov is the principal goalkeeper of the Russian national team.

Due to UEFA and FIFA sanctions, the national team has only participated in friendly matches in recent years. It should be noted that Safonov was transferred from "Krasnodar" to PSG in the summer of 2024 and has since been playing for the French club.
