Kazakhstan is preparing to join the Abraham Accords

Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will announce on Thursday his country's intention to join the Abraham Accords during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington. Axios reported this, citing sources in the US administration.

According to the publication, Tokayev's statement will be made during Trump's summit with the leaders of Central Asian countries. In addition, Kazakhstan has signed an agreement with the United States on cooperation in the field of strategically important mineral resources.

Analysts believe this step will be another move towards strengthening strategic cooperation with Washington. Furthermore, it is expected that Tokayev and Trump will have a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to officially confirm Kazakhstan's accession to the agreements.

US officials are calling this step "the first step towards restoring Israel's position in the Muslim world after the Gaza conflict". "This shows that the Abraham Accords remain an attractive format for countries seeking peace and regional cooperation," said one representative of the US administration.

The Abraham Accords were signed in 2020 with the participation of the United States. Initially, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco joined these accords and established diplomatic relations with Israel.

This initiative is one of the key foreign policy achievements of the Trump administration and aimed to promote economic and technological cooperation between Israel and Middle Eastern countries. Washington hopes that Kazakhstan’s accession will give further impetus to the expansion of the accords.

In particular, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, is expected to visit the United States on November 18. US officials intend to use this visit to encourage Riyadh to join the accords.

However, negotiations remain complicated.
