
On Sunday, large-scale evacuation efforts began in the Philippines due to the approach of a super tropical storm named Fung-wong. According to the Civil Defense Administration, over 916,000 people across the country were relocated to safer areas.
The storm is bringing winds of 185 kilometers per hour and powerful gusts reaching up to 230 kilometers per hour. Its impact zone covers nearly the entire territory of the country.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, Catanduanes Island in the eastern part of the country may face the direct hit of the storm. Since early Sunday morning, the island has experienced strong waves, heavy rains, and flooding.
The government instructed schools and public institutions, including those in the capital city of Manila, to close on Monday. Additionally, approximately 300 flights were canceled.
