Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road traffic accident in Nigeria. According to local law enforcement and international media reports, the incident occurred on December 29 on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway running through Ogun State.
Reports say the car carrying the boxer crashed into a truck that was stationary on the roadside. The tragic collision is said to have killed at least two people. The causes are being investigated, and relevant agencies are conducting inquiries.
Anthony Joshua himself sustained minor injuries in the crash. As a precaution, he was taken to hospital and underwent a full medical examination. Doctors say his life is not in danger. The boxer’s representatives also confirmed that his condition is stable and that he remains under medical supervision.
Joshua is known to have been in Nigeria in recent days on a private visit. He travels to the country from time to time, as it is linked to his family roots.
