On November 13, 2025, Bloomberg reported that a lawsuit has been filed against Google. The company is accused of illegally collecting personal data through its Gemini assistant.
The plaintiffs claim that the artificial intelligence tool gathered information from Gmail and private conversations without consent. The lawsuit has been submitted to the federal court in San Jose, California.
According to the complaint, Gemini services were secretly activated across all platforms in October, enabling Google to access users' private communications. Under California law, such actions may violate regulations that prohibit the covert reading of confidential messages.
The plaintiffs allege that Google is using artificial intelligence to "exploit all written histories of users." So far, Google representatives have not provided an official comment regarding this class-action lawsuit.
