PSG midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been named Georgia’s Footballer of the Year for 2025. The 24-year-old star won the award for the fifth time after a run of top-level performances, further fueling the buzz around his name.
It is worth noting that Kvaratskhelia has received this honor several times before. He was named Georgia’s best player in 2020 and 2021 while playing for Kazan’s Rubin, and in 2022 and 2023 thanks to his standout displays for Italy’s Napoli. In 2025, his consistent and effective performances in Paris lifted him to the top once again.
As a result, Khvicha has matched the record of Georgian football legend Kakha Kaladze for the number of these awards. Kaladze was named the country’s best footballer five times—in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2011. Now Kvaratskhelia has reached the same prestigious milestone, securing a special place in Georgian football history.
To recall, in 2024 the title of Georgia’s best footballer went to goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who currently represents Liverpool.
Experts believe Kvaratskhelia’s current form and rate of development could keep him among the brightest stars not only domestically but also in European football for many years. In short, Khvicha has no intention of stopping—he knows there are many more records ahead.
