Netflix to acquire Warner Bros for $82.7 billion

Netflix is acquiring Warner Bros, including its film studio, television studio, HBO, and the HBO Max platform. This was announced by Netflix’s press service.

The deal is valued at $82.7 billion and is expected to be fully completed in the third quarter of 2026, following the restructuring of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). This agreement will merge the world’s largest streaming service with one of the most renowned film studios.

The Netflix library will be enriched with franchises and classic films such as "Harry Potter," "Friends," "Game of Thrones," "The Sopranos," DC films, "Gone with the Wind," and "Casablanca." These will complement Netflix’s own popular projects like "Stranger Things," "Money Heist," "Bridgerton," and "Squid Game."

Warner Bros will continue its traditional theatrical releases, while the studio will gain access to Netflix’s global platform. The agreement has already been approved by the boards of directors of both companies.

Completion of the deal requires the approval of WBD shareholders and regulatory bodies. The full completion is expected within 12 to 18 months.
