Bukhara Woman Blackmailed Her Lover for $30,000

According to the Bukhara Regional Police Department, on January 24, a 32-year-old woman from Peshku District was arrested for attempting to extort $30,000 from a 29-year-old man from Vabkent District.

Investigations revealed that the two had been in a romantic relationship since 2019, during which the woman obtained intimate photos of her lover. She then threatened to share these images on social media and send them to his relatives unless he paid the demanded amount. The suspect was caught by law enforcement while receiving an advance payment of $10,000, which had been pre-treated with a special chemical to track the transaction.

A criminal case has been initiated against her under Article 3 of the "Extortion" section of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code. She now faces up to 15 years in prison.
