On April 17, 2025, in the Furkat district of the Fergana region, the director of a school, Gulira'no Qosimova, was stripped, humiliated, and beaten by police officers, Kun.uz reported. According to him, the incident occurred due to hostility between the local tax inspectorate and the heads of the internal affairs bodies.
According to reports, when Gulira'no Qosimova went to her acquaintance - the district tax chief - to ask for a loan for her husband's operation, police officers entered the house like a burglar. They stripped the woman and the head of the tax office, beat her, and recorded an insulting video, demanding that she write a false statement.
After the woman denied the false accusation, she and her family faced various pressures. According to sources, the former head of the Department of Internal Affairs organized this situation for "settling accounts." Later, the woman fell into depression and attempted suicide, but survived.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the former head of the district police department, and he has been dismissed from his post. However, it was reported that his deputy and operatives are still at work. Gulira'no Qosimova requested strict legal action against all of them.
According to the press service of the Supreme Court, the case of the former head of the Furkat District Department of Internal Affairs and his deputy is currently being considered in the Kuva District Court. The Senate stated that it has taken this situation under parliamentary control, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is also monitoring the case.
In the official statement of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Fergana region, it was emphasized that "the investigation into the situation has not yet been completed, and it is not necessary to draw an unfounded conclusion before a court verdict is issued." An impartial statement will be made on the results of the investigation.
