Gayane Umerova Elected Chair of UNESCO Assembly


Gayane Umerova, Head of the Uzbekistan Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art and Secretary-General of the Uzbek National Commission for UNESCO, has been elected as the Chairperson of the 25th session of the UNESCO General Assembly. She was elected by the state parties to the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

This election took place during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Samarkand.
