Heavy snowfall observed in the United States has caused serious problems with air traffic.
On December 26, more than 1,600 flights across the US were suspended due to unfavorable weather conditions. This was reported by the FlightAware portal, which monitors air traffic.
According to reports, the main impact fell on New York City and its surrounding major airports:
- John F. Kennedy International Airport;
- LaGuardia Airport;
- Newark Airport.
Snow depth in these areas was predicted to reach up to 23 centimeters, which prevented the safe movement of aircraft.
Not limited to the cancellation of flights, a total of more than 19 thousand flights were postponed indefinitely. Passengers are also facing significant difficulties at the airports of Boston, Detroit, and Philadelphia.
Currently, airlines are reviewing the schedules and asking passengers to clarify the information before boarding the airport.
