A major traffic accident involving more than 50 vehicles occurred in Gunma Prefecture, located in central Japan. As a result of the crash, two people were killed, and 26 others sustained injuries of varying severity.
According to NHK, the incident took place on an expressway. Preliminary reports suggest that the accident was caused by icy road conditions. Following the collision, at least 10 vehicles caught fire.
Emergency services reported that five injured individuals are in critical condition and have been hospitalized, while 21 others suffered minor injuries. Due to the accident, several sections of the expressway in central Japan were temporarily closed to traffic.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
