300 million soums in moral damages awarded to entrepreneur unjustly imprisoned for 8 years in Tashkent

An entrepreneur who was unjustly imprisoned for a long term in Tashkent has been awarded 300 million soums in moral damages. This decision was made following a new ruling by the Supreme Court in the criminal case. According to the Supreme Court press secretary, Aziz Obidov, this event is one of the important steps aimed at restoring the rights of entrepreneurs and highlights the focus on the system of legal justice in the country.

Entrepreneur Dilshod Mingboyev, the 42-year-old head of Sadaf LLC, was convicted in 2011 of violating customs legislation under Article 182 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 8 years in prison. This victim was found to be innocent during his imprisonment and was released after 5 years by the decision of the Supreme Court.

After his release, Dilshod Mingboyev appealed to the civil court, demanding 1 billion soums in moral damages. According to him, over the past 5 years, many difficulties arose for his family and himself, and his family faced significant hardships: "My wife, my mother, and I have endured so many difficulties," the entrepreneur wrote.

In the case heard in the Uchtepa district court, a decision was made to award 300 million soums from the territorial targeted fund for compensation of property damage caused to individuals and legal entities under the Tashkent region administration. This court decision is a significant event for the public in criminal cases, and these circumstances increase confidence in the effectiveness of the legal system in the country.

The decision in this case can also serve as an important precedent in restoring the rights of persons unjustly imprisoned in other cases.
