UEFA Excludes Russian National Team from Nations League

UEFA has announced the composition of the pots for the 2026/2027 Nations League draw. As previously reported, the Russian national team is once again absent from the list of tournament participants. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.

This decision is not unexpected: sanctions against the Russian Football Union (RFU) remain in effect and are upheld at the FIFA level. These restrictions have been in place for almost four years, during which the Russian national team has only been allowed to participate in friendly matches.

The Nations League draw will be held on February 12. Last summer, Portugal emerged victorious in the tournament — they prevailed over Spain in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in the final.
