Our young boxers shone in Minsk, winning 12 medals

An international open tournament dedicated to the memory of honored coach V.V. Botvinnik was held in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, from April 22 to 27.
Uzbek young boxers who took part in this prestigious competition once again demonstrated their potential.
Our athletes born in 2010–2011 won a total of 12 medals, posting a strong team result. They finished the tournament with 6 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medal.
The gold medalists deserve special attention. In the -46 kg weight class, Abdulloh Ziyavitdinov, in -52 kg Islombek Furqatov and in -54 kg Ogʻabek Otamurodov gave their rivals no chance.
The results among the girls were also encouraging: Rayhona Alimxanova (-46 kg), Nafisa Bosimova (-50 kg) and Sabina Mirzayeva (-54 kg) won the championship.
The silver medalists also put up a worthy fight. Mustafo Tursunboyev (-48 kg), Ilyos Zarifboyev (-50 kg), Hojiakbar Mirzamahmudov (-57 kg), Ulugʻbek Soliyev (-60 kg) and Abdurahmon Murtazayev (-63 kg) reached the final and delivered strong results.
The bronze medal in the -75 kg category went to Amirxon Salohiddinov.
Coaches Moʻminjon Ahmedov, Aliyor Noraliyev and Nodirjon Irgashev made a major contribution to the team's success. Jahongir Soliyev, who also took part in the competition as a referee, likewise defended our country's honor with distinction.
In short, the young athletes “did the talking in the ring.” This generation will also “blow up” the bigger arenas one day — the potential is there, the results are there, and the confidence is there.
