Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the launch of a new decentralized network called Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network) based on TON blockchain technology. In this project, artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies will be integrated, and it will begin operations in November. Durov announced this news at the Blockchain Life 2025 forum held in Dubai.
According to Durov, in recent years people have been losing their digital freedoms and decentralization is a way to restore them. He jokingly said he considered naming the new network "Private AI Network" — abbreviated as P.A.I.N ("pain"). The network's operation will be supported by GPU miners, who will receive rewards in Toncoin (TON) tokens.
Telegram will help attract users' attention to the project. Developers will be able to use artificial intelligence tools, while users will get the opportunity to work with modern technologies while protecting their privacy.
