U.S. President Donald Trump has once again surprised the public with his latest decision. On Tuesday, he expanded the list of countries banned from entering the United States.
This list previously included some African countries, such as Mali, which had distanced themselves from Western political influence and faced sanctions. Now, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire have also been added to the list.
The decision concerns countries whose national football teams have qualified for the World Cup. This means fans from these nations will not be able to travel to the U.S. to support their teams in stadiums.
For now, the restrictions introduced by Trump do not apply to football players. The U.S. administration explained this decision by citing a high percentage of citizens from these countries who overstay their visas and remain in the U.S. illegally.
For Senegal, this rate stands at 4 percent, while for Côte d'Ivoire, it is 8 percent. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
