Snapdragon X2 Plus heats up the Windows laptop market

Qualcomm officially unveiled the Snapdragon X2 Plus platform at CES 2026 — expanding its lineup of chips for Windows PCs and targeting the mass market. The company says the new-generation solution strikes a balance between performance and power efficiency. This was reported by playground.ru reports .
Thanks to its power-efficient architecture, devices can run for several days without needing a charge. As a result, Snapdragon X2 Plus is seen as a strong contender in the portable laptop market, especially for professional users and content creators.
The first devices on the platform will be introduced by major manufacturers such as Lenovo, Dell, and Acer. Laptops based on Snapdragon X2 Plus are expected to go on sale in the first half of 2026.
However, there’s one intrigue: it’s a clash of different architectures — ARM and x86. How well Snapdragon can compete on the x86 “turf” will directly depend on how thoroughly Windows is optimized for ARM, including driver support.
Meanwhile, it’s also notable that Qualcomm has started announcing new processors very frequently — and the market will see the outcome of this race in real-world tests.
