The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations approved the start dates of the 2025/26 academic year in higher education organizations and academic lyceums. This decision creates additional convenience for planning in advance the new season’s preparation, class schedules, and student admissions processes.
According to official information, the following procedure applies: for students of all stages of academic lyceums and for 1st-stage students of HEIs, classes begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2025; for 2nd-stage and higher-stage students of higher education organizations, on Monday, September 8. Accordingly, a leading timeframe has been set to coordinate issues of returning from vacation, housing and logistics, and the programs will be launched step by step.
For students admitted to the 1st course at HEIs, a “Week of Introduction to the Credit Education System” and “Dedication to Studenthood” events will be organized. This first week will pass in a unity of festive spirit and practical content, helping to adapt to the new environment and to get closely acquainted with the faculty and dean’s office system. Within the week: students will be introduced to the activities of the HEI, the content and essence of the credit-module system will be explained; elective subjects will be purposefully selected; advocacy-promotion work will be carried out regarding the formation of independent learning skills in students, the principles of academic integrity, and issues of professional and personal development. Through this, openness will be ensured regarding the study mode, assessment criteria, and the academic calendar.
From the very initial stage, the main task for a student is to correctly determine the trajectory of obtaining knowledge. Purposeful selection of elective subjects, effective use of distance platforms, and working with the library and electronic resources are practical skills that directly affect achievements in subsequent semesters. Adherence to the rules of academic integrity expands opportunities to participate in scholarships, grants, and international programs.
Earlier it was reported that there is a possibility that the amount of tuition-contract will not increase at universities that have not switched to self-financing. This approach is being noted as one of the factors of financial stability for parents and students, however, official statements and exact figures for each educational organization will be announced separately.
Ultimately, the approved date and plans have defined the starting points of the academic year. Now faculties and departments will approve study plans, finalize the allocation of classrooms and resources, and students will form their personal plan regarding the schedule of lectures-practicals, elective subjects, and internships. In short, the date is clear, the task assigned — a firm step toward the new milestone of knowledge.
