Japan to Provide Mammography Equipment to Uzbekistan

On November 14, 2025, Japan's Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Kendi Hirata, and Minister of Health Asilbek Khudoyorov signed documents concerning grant assistance as part of the Economic and Social Development Program. The project is valued at 859 million yen (approximately 5.6 million US dollars).
Under this program, new Japanese mammography equipment will be delivered to 17 state hospitals in Tashkent and the regions. This initiative aims to provide broader access to mammographic examinations across the country, enhancing early detection capabilities for breast cancer.
The decision to support initiatives of this nature was endorsed during the "Central Asia + Japan" foreign ministers' meeting in December 2022. At that meeting, Tokyo announced its intention to invest in the development of human capital and promote quality growth.
