Uzbekistan to Achieve 54% Renewable Energy Share

The share of renewable energy in Uzbekistan will reach 54%
Uzbekistan is planning to increase the share of renewable energy sources in its energy sector. Since the beginning of this year, 23 percent of the electricity produced in the country has come from renewable sources.

According to the Ministry of Energy, this figure is expected to reach 54 percent by 2030. Currently, Uzbekistan has 13 solar and 5 wind power plants in operation, with a total capacity of 4,700 MW.

These plants have generated 9.7 billion kWh of electricity, saving 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas and preventing 4.2 million tons of harmful emissions.

Solar panels are also being installed in the private sector, industrial enterprises, and social institutions. Their combined capacity amounts to 1,900 MW, and solar water heating collectors with a total volume of 4.85 million liters are in use.

As a result, an additional 761 million cubic meters of gas have been saved, and harmful emissions have been reduced by 905,000 tons. Modern environmental technologies are also being introduced into thermal power plants.

In the Tashkent Thermal Power Center, new gas turbine units, automated monitoring systems, and filtration equipment have been installed. This has contributed to reducing annual harmful emissions by 200 tons.

Additionally, as part of the "Green Land" project, more than 2.5 million trees have been planted by fuel and energy complex enterprises, and new ecological zones have been established around production facilities, with plans to complete these efforts by 2025.
