
The JICA agency will assist in establishing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) based on Japanese models and standards. This initiative was discussed during a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Japanese business representatives.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also invited Japanese entrepreneurs to participate in the modernization, industrialization, and export potential development of Uzbekistan’s economy. The meeting outlined the main areas of cooperation between Uzbek and Japanese companies.
Developing energy sustainability and transitioning to “green” energy were highlighted as key issues. Additionally, attention was given to the deep processing of strategically significant natural resources.
Promising areas for collaboration between Tashkent and Tokyo were identified as the production of machinery, industrial equipment, and the development of a high-tech economy. At the conclusion of the meeting, the President expressed Tashkent’s desire to work with Tokyo not only as an investor but also as a strategic partner in shaping the industries of the future.
In turn, Japanese business representatives expressed their intentions to expand operations in Uzbekistan and discussed plans to implement joint projects in priority areas.
