In 2026, Uzbekistan plans to allocate 1.9 trillion soums for financing environmental projects. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his address to the parliament and the nation.
These funds will be used to establish large-scale green areas, combat dust and sandstorms, and train specialists in the field of ecology. For instance, a 10,000-hectare "green belt" will be created in the Surkhandarya region, and an 84-kilometer-long "green wall" will be established in the Syrdarya region.
In Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara, and Navoi regions, a total of 250,000 hectares will be forested, including 115,000 hectares in the dried-up areas of the Aral Sea. Additionally, botanical and dendrological gardens, as well as at least 20 shaded walking zones, are planned throughout these regions.
Starting in 2026, "green" technical schools will be opened in various regions, where 10,000 specialists per year will be trained based on a dual education system. Furthermore, the activities of the Central Asian Green University will be expanded, laboratories for assessing air, water, and soil quality will be established, and studies related to enhancing natural ventilation in cities will be conducted.
