It became known that Uzbekistan’s national cuisine did not make the prestigious list

O‘zbekiston milliy oshxonasi nufuzli ro‘yxatdan joy ololmagani ma’lum bo‘ldiThe list of the world’s 100 best cuisines published by TasteAtlas has once again sparked debate. Unfortunately, Uzbekistan’s national cuisine did not make the prestigious list this time either. The ranking was compiled based on nearly 19,000 different dishes and ratings from more than half a million users. The updated ranking is led by the world’s most famous and widely consumed cuisines. It is emphasized that a brand formed over centuries, strong gastronomic marketing, and international promotion play an important role. From Central Asia, only Kazakhstan’s cuisine managed to enter the list. With its national dishes, the neighboring country took 98th place. In particular, dishes such as samosa, suvjo‘q, lag‘mon, kespe, and bo‘rsak were rated highly by TasteAtlas users. At the same time, debates around Uzbek cuisine have happened before. In February this year, one of the most popular salads among Uzbek dishes—achchuchuk—took 43rd place in TasteAtlas’s “world’s worst dishes” anti-ranking, which caused mixed reactions among the public. According to experts, the limited visibility of Uzbek cuisine in rankings is linked not to its taste or rich traditions, but to insufficient global promotion, branding, and active presence in the international gastronomic arena. In short, although plov, somsa, and lag‘mon are enjoyed around the world, for global rankings marketing can be just as decisive as taste. Now the question is how we can introduce our cuisine to the world.
