President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address to the parliament and the people on December 26, announced the beginning of a decisive and fundamentally new stage in the fight against corruption. The head of state assessed this vice as the most dangerous obstacle to the country's development and openly expressed an uncompromising position towards it.
As the President noted, corruption undermines justice and the rule of law, undermines the atmosphere of trust in society, and deals a serious blow to reforms. Therefore, 2026 is designated as an "emergency year" in the fight against corruption in the country. According to Mirziyoyev, if this vice is not eliminated, it will be difficult to achieve the set economic and social goals, and the trust of the international community will weaken.
In accordance with the new system, the position of deputy responsible for compliance and internal anti-corruption control will be introduced in all government agencies. The activities of representatives of the Accounts Chamber will also be systematically established. The President emphasized that each agency will be checked personally, and the truth will be told openly, even if no one likes it.
According to the head of state, the leaders appointed to the new system will be personally responsible for identifying corrupt officials and preventing the early detection of cases of embezzlement of budget funds and abuse of office. All control work will be directly reported to the President.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to strengthen personal responsibility for every sum of state funds. He emphasized that the view that "I have a position, and no one will touch me" is completely inappropriate in Uzbekistan. Before the law, everyone is equal.
The internal affairs bodies, the prosecutor's office, the tax, customs, financial, banking systems, large state-owned companies, ministries and khokimiyats - not a single agency or organization will be left out of control. Persons who obstruct the activities of the Compliance Service will be considered accomplices in corruption, and the corresponding liability will be established.
The Compliance Service of the Presidential Administration has been tasked with fully launching this system in all government agencies from January 1 and taking the reins firmly. Now, information on every instance of bribery or abuse will be delivered directly to the President.
For information, Erkin Yuldashev has been heading the Compliance Service of the Presidential Administration since July 2025. Previously, he held the positions of Prosecutor of the city of Tashkent and Deputy Prosecutor General.
The new system is aimed at strengthening openness, transparency, and accountability in public administration and is expected to be a turning point in the fight against corruption.
