
Individuals suspected of looting the Louvre Museum in France have been detained, Reuters reports. One of them was apprehended at Charles de Gaulle Airport while attempting to fly to Algeria.
Two men from the Seine-Saint-Denis area near Paris were arrested on the evening of October 26. However, the stolen jewelry has not yet been found.
Paris prosecutor Laure Beccu expressed disapproval over the disclosure of information regarding the arrests. She noted that this situation complicates the investigation.
Nearly a hundred investigators are participating in the investigation. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez highly praised the work of the police but declined to reveal details.
The incidents occurred on October 19. Four masked individuals made off with eight pieces of jewelry from the 19th century with a total value of $102 million.
