On December 4, 2025, in California, Dr. Salvador Plasencia was sentenced to 30 months in prison in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry, according to BBC reports. The doctor was found guilty of illegally providing the famous "Friends" star with ketamine.
In court, Plasencia expressed sincere remorse for his actions and apologized. He explained his behavior as being driven by financial struggles at his clinic and the temptation of a large sum of money.
"There is no excuse for what I have done. I cannot undo what happened. I know that. I should have protected him, as his mother said. I feel deep regret," Plasencia stated.
The doctor pleaded guilty to four charges. Sentences for the remaining four suspects in the case, including Perry’s personal assistant and an individual known as the "Queen of Ketamine," are expected to be handed down in the coming months.
