City captains refund ticket money to fans who travelled to Norway

Manchester City’s away match in Norway in the Champions League proved a tough night. Pep Guardiola’s side lost 1–3 to Bodø/Glimt and failed to deliver the result the fans were hoping for.
However, after the defeat, the team’s leaders decided to show accountability in action. According to journalist Simon Bajkowski, Manchester City’s captains committed to refunding the ticket costs for all 374 club supporters who travelled to Norway.
It is said that this decision cost the Citizens’ leading players around £10,000. The captains felt that, in such a situation, the least they could do for the fans was to cover part of the travel expenses.
The gesture once again showed how the relationship between the team and its supporters is built: on winning days and on disappointing nights alike, the fans are the team’s greatest strength.
Guardiola’s side will now play their next match on 24 January at home against Wolverhampton. City’s key task is to move on quickly from this defeat and rebuild the fans’ trust with both the result and the quality of performance in the next game.
