The import tariffs introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump at the beginning of 2025 have generated $200 billion in revenue for the country's budget. CNBC reported this development.
“We act based on targeted intelligence, ensuring the security of the U.S. economy through strict oversight and swift measures, protecting American industries, and holding those attempting to violate our trade laws accountable,” said Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott.
Trump imposed new import tariffs on goods from several countries without the approval of the U.S. Congress as a response measure.
Additionally, tariffs referred to as the “fentanyl tariffs” were placed on goods imported from Canada, China, and Mexico. He accused these countries of failing to curb the flow of narcotics into the United States.
The White House leader has repeatedly emphasized that the United States earns over $2 billion daily from tariffs, with “reciprocal” tariffs on imports also contributing to the revenue. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is reviewing the legality of the new tariffs.
