The Central Bank elected to AFI leadership

The Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), an international organization focused on expanding access to financial services, has elected Uzbekistan's Central Bank as the Vice-Chair and representative of the Board of Directors from the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.

Chairman of Uzbekistan's Central Bank, Timur Ishmetov, stated, "Being elected to the AFI Board of Directors is a recognition of Uzbekistan's ongoing reforms aimed at developing financial inclusion, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and strengthening the foundation for an inclusive financial ecosystem." The Central Bank has played a significant role within AFI and has previously been active in the organization's leadership.

The bank has been involved in committees on budget and financial matters, as well as gender-focused financing. Currently, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan is leading policy initiatives for AFI in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.

AFI is an international network established by central banks and financial regulators from developing countries, aimed at improving access to financial services globally.
