The Tax Committee commented on the situation around using Paynet’s Xolis platform, stating that entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals may install the app at their own discretion.
The agency noted that if tax officers demand mandatory installation of the app from sole proprietors or self-employed persons, citizens can call the short number 1198 or contact local tax authorities.
According to the committee, work is currently underway on new technical solutions aimed at bringing the activities of the self-employed and sole proprietors into the legal framework.
The rollout of the Xolis platform sparked objections on Uznet: some entrepreneurs said tax officials required them to install the app.
As a reminder, a special legal regime for sole proprietors and the self-employed will take effect in Uzbekistan from the beginning of next year. Under it, businesses will be able to register and submit reports via dedicated platforms.
At the same time, companies with technopark resident status will not be allowed to provide such services. The Tax Committee noted that, for now, Paynet meets this requirement.
