Renewable Energy Share in Uzbekistan to Reach 54%

Uzbekistan aims to increase the share of renewable energy sources in its energy sector. Since the beginning of the current year, 23% of the electricity produced in the country has been generated from renewable sources.

According to the Ministry of Energy, this figure is expected to rise to 54% by 2030. Currently, Uzbekistan operates 13 solar and 5 wind power plants with a total capacity of 4,700 MW.

These plants have generated 9.7 billion kWh of electricity, saving 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas and preventing the emission of 4.2 million tons of harmful substances.

The installation of solar panels on private sector facilities, enterprises, and social infrastructure is also ongoing. Their total capacity amounts to 1,900 MW, and solar water heating collectors with a total volume of 4.85 million liters are being utilized.

This has led to additional savings of 761 million cubic meters of gas and a reduction of 905,000 tons of harmful emissions. Modern ecological technologies are also being implemented at thermal power plants.

New gas turbine equipment, automatic monitoring systems, and filtration devices have been installed at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant. This has helped reduce annual harmful emissions by 200 tons.

Additionally, as part of the "Green Initiative" project, over 2.5 million trees have been planted by fuel and energy complex enterprises by 2025, establishing new ecological zones around production facilities.
