Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine, stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the US is expected until the end of November. The purpose of the visit is a personal meeting with US President Donald Trump and the implementation of the final stages of the long-discussed peace agreement.
In Geneva, although US and Ukrainian officials reached a "general agreement" by reducing the initial 28-point plan to 19, "several subtle details that need to be resolved" remain.
Main issues to be resolved by the Presidents
According to the Ukrainian side, the most complex and crucial issues will be discussed at the level of the two presidents. Including:
- Territorial sovereignty (concessions previously required in the plan, but later removed).
- Conditions for the exchange of prisoners "all for all."
- This includes humanitarian issues such as the return of Ukrainian children taken by Russia.
Umerov expressed hope that this trip will be carried out as soon as possible. The White House also confirmed that most of the clauses were agreed upon and that Ukraine supported the basis of the peace agreement. This meeting could put an end to the most decisive dialogue on the path to ending the conflict, which has lasted for almost four years.
