An important announcement has been made on reducing traffic congestion and modernizing the road system in Tashkent. At a meeting held by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 16, it was noted that drivers visiting the capital will be able to park their cars in large parking lots built outside the city and enter the center by public transport.
According to a special decree signed at the beginning of December, transport management in Tashkent will be raised to a completely new level. A single intellectual center operates in the city, analyzing traffic flow on every street and intersection using artificial intelligence. This system serves to predict traffic jams in advance and prevent accidents.
Next year, two checkpoints at the entrance to the capital will be relocated to areas outside the city, and three more will undergo major reconstruction. Parking lots for 3.5 thousand trucks and 5.5 thousand cars will be built at these points. Campsites will also be organized for drivers and passengers, creating comfortable conditions.
Most importantly, these points will be connected to the public transport network. Thus, guests arriving in the capital can easily enter the city by fast, safe, and inexpensive transport, leaving their cars outside.
At the same time, the city administration has been tasked with significantly improving the quality of road traffic next year. Including:
- Implementation of 100 intersections with "smart" traffic lights;
- Construction of 30,000 parking spaces in cooperation with the private sector;
- Reconstruction of 300 stations;
- Construction of 40 km of pedestrian and 20 km of bicycle paths;
- Repair of 100 km of roads;
- Construction of overpasses and tunnels in Yunusabad and Yashnabad;
- The task has been set to purchase 200 electric buses.
