Next year, 100 smart intersections will be installed in Tashkent. These intersections will be managed through a unified system and will utilize artificial intelligence to monitor the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
These measures are aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving safety on the roads, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized during a meeting. Additionally, two control checkpoints at the entrances to the city will be relocated outside the capital, and three checkpoints will be reconstructed. Parking facilities for 3,500 trucks and 5,500 passenger cars, as well as designated recreational areas for the public, will also be established.
These locations will be integrated with public transport, enabling visitors to park their cars and travel around the city quickly and conveniently. Moreover, plans include constructing 30,000 parking spaces, 300 upgraded bus stops, 40 km of pedestrian walkways, 20 km of cycling lanes, and repairing 100 km of roads. Overpasses and underground tunnels will also be built in the Yunusabad and Yashnobod districts.
To enhance the city's public transport system, 200 new electric buses will be introduced.
