According to the results for January–September 2025, Uzbekistan ranked seventh in the world for growth rates in the tourism sector. This was reported by the Tourism Committee, citing the World Tourism Barometer international report. The indicators are evaluated not only as a delighting achievement but also as a strategically significant result for the country.
Statistics show that the number of foreign tourists visiting the country exceeded the pre-pandemic level of 2019 by 73 percent. This indicates not only the recovery of Uzbekistan’s position in the global tourism market but also its rise to a new level. Moreover, in terms of the pace of recovery in tourism flow, the country ranked second in Europe and was recognized as one of the four most attractive destinations in the region with a 13 percent increase compared to 2024.
The year 2025 also marked record achievements in domestic tourism for Uzbekistan. Over the course of 11 months, the country welcomed more than 10.7 million foreign visitors. Starting in April, the monthly influx of tourists consistently exceeded 1 million people, highlighting the emergence of a new trend in the sector.
Tourism service exports also experienced significant growth, surpassing $4.4 billion. Experts associate this result with the expansion of the visa-free regime, an increase in air and rail connectivity, as well as the active promotion of Uzbekistan on the international stage.
Traditional tourism hubs—Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva—remain key points of interest. However, demand for ecological, gastronomic, and regional tourism has sharply increased in recent times. Particularly, the growing share of tourists from distant foreign countries underscores the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s appeal as a global tourist destination.
In summary, the results of 2025 have opened new opportunities for Uzbekistan's tourism sector, bringing the country one step closer to becoming one of the leading destinations globally.
