
Concerns are increasing in Uzbekistan regarding the slowdown of the country's accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to Azizbek Uronov, the Presidential Representative on this matter. Uronov noted that these concerns stem from the nature, timelines, and content of certain questions raised within the working group.
At the same time, Tashkent supports the organization's values of fairness and stability in global trade. Uronov stated that the republic does not view WTO membership as a privilege.
Uzbekistan is negotiating with trade alliance participants regarding market access opportunities. To date, Uzbekistan has concluded negotiations with 33 members of the WTO and signed protocols with 30 countries.
It is expected that next week, Tashkent will sign a relevant agreement with Moscow. It should be noted that support for Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO has been provided since the mid-1990s.
