Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov openly criticized the information policies of Russian media outlets. Through his Telegram channel, he highlighted the issues receiving attention in society and condemned the relative silence surrounding certain tragedies.
According to Nurmagomedov, his act of praying quietly in an airport without disturbing anyone was widely discussed by some Telegram channels and publications. Meanwhile, a horrific attack in a school near Moscow’s Odintsovo district, resulting in the death of a child, received little attention from the media.
“Dozens of Telegram channels commented on my act of praying in a corner of the airport, where I wasn’t bothering anyone. But the barbaric act at a school and the killing of a child went almost unnoticed. This situation is incredibly strange to me,” Khabib wrote.
Reports suggest that the tragedy he referred to took place on the morning of December 16 in a school located in Gorki-2 village, part of the Odintsovo district in Moscow region. According to investigative authorities, a 15-year-old teenager entered the educational institution armed with a knife and an improvised explosive device.
During the attack, the teenager reportedly stabbed the school guard and a 10-year-old fourth-grade student named Qobiljon Aliyev. Alarmingly, it is claimed that the teenager also recorded his actions on his phone.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s statement sparked widespread debate among the public. Many fans and users supported his stance, emphasizing the importance of drawing attention to real societal issues. In his view, the media should prioritize stories concerning human life and safety over chasing sensationalism.
