Uzbekistan to adopt 29 new documents in 2026 on its path to WTO accession

Uzbekistan plans to draft and adopt 29 regulatory legal documents in 2026 to accelerate its accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO). This was announced by the President’s Representative on WTO matters Azizbek Urunov. This was reported by kursiv.uz.reports.
According to him, the country has completed the main part of bilateral market-access negotiations with WTO member states: agreements have been reached with 33 out of 34 countries. Only the talks with Taiwan remain open for now.
According to available data, in 2025 Uzbekistan adopted 30 regulatory legal acts under WTO requirements—laws, presidential decrees, government resolutions, and ведомственные documents. The 29 new documents planned for 2026 will cover key areas of trade regulation, including customs and technical standards, export duties, trade defense measures, intellectual property, as well as sanitary and phytosanitary requirements.
Officials also aim to finalize the remaining bilateral and multilateral negotiations during 2026, prepare the final report of the WTO working party, and fully align national legislation with the agreements reached.
