Uzbekistan Becomes Central Asia’s Leader in Military Power Ranking

In the updated Global Firepower military strength index, Uzbekistan’s Armed Forces significantly improved their position. Among 145 countries, the nation rose to 53rd place, recording the best result in Central Asia. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .
According to the 2026 ranking, Uzbekistan climbed five places compared to last year and overtook Kazakhstan, which is ranked 58th.
One of the country’s key advantages is its mobilization potential. Out of a population of 36.5 million, nearly 16 million are assessed as fit for military service. The army has about 120,000 service members, most of whom serve in ground units.
Technical capability indicators are also high: Uzbekistan has 470 tanks and 8,692 armored vehicles. In artillery, including 177 self-propelled artillery systems, the country ranks 23rd in the world by this metric.
The Air Force operates 159 aircraft, including 101 helicopters. Special emphasis on strike aviation is noted: 34 attack helicopters secured Uzbekistan 20th place globally under this criterion.
Overall, Uzbekistan has firmly established itself as Central Asia’s leader in military potential. Regional standings: Uzbekistan — 53rd, Kazakhstan — 58th, Turkmenistan — 78th, Tajikistan — 100th, Kyrgyzstan — 109th.
