Will “tonirovka” become cheaper from May 1? Official answer announced

After questions mounted over reports that from May 1, the permit fee for “tonirovka” for the four-month summer period in Uzbekistan would be set at 412,000 soums, a representative of the Traffic Safety Service clarified the issue.
He said the procedure for using vehicles with tinted windows was set out by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 547, adopted on July 18, 2018.
That is, under this resolution, the current practice of issuing permits to change a vehicle’s window tint has been introduced in exchange for a payment of eight times the BHM — 3,296,000 soums.
“This procedure remains unchanged for now. Reports circulating on social media that a 412,000-soum ‘tonirovka’ permit has been introduced for the summer season are unofficial and unfounded, that is, false information,” the Traffic Safety Service representative said.
It was also noted that if any amendments or changes are made to the legislation on the permit procedure for “tonirovka,” that is, changing vehicle window tint, detailed and complete information will certainly be provided through the official sources of the Traffic Safety Service.
For this reason, all citizens are asked not to spread unofficial and unverified information on social media.
It is worth noting that in August 2025, it was announced that a discounted price for “tonirovka” could be introduced in Uzbekistan for the summer season.
According to the draft law, it was planned to introduce permits valid from May 1 to August 31 each year for tinting the rear and front side windows of passenger cars.
Briefly about “tonirovka”
At present, no permit is required to tint the rear side windows and rear window of cars, and this process is carried out free of charge. However, a permit is absolutely required to tint the front door windows. This permit is issued on an annual basis.
At the same time, changing the tint of a car’s rear window, as well as reducing the light transmittance of the upper part of the front windshield in a “strip” not exceeding 14 centimeters, may be carried out without a permit, based on the established state standards.
The price of a permit to tint the front door windows is eight times the BHM — 3,296,000 soums. The permit for “tonirovka” can be obtained online through the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services. When applying online, drivers are given a 10% discount.
“Tonirovka” carried out without a permit is considered contrary to the law. Under Article 126-1 of the Code of Administrative Liability, the fine for such a violation is 25 times the BHM — 10,300,000 soums.
