Uzbekistan's position in the global employment ranking has been revealed

A new ranking of the population's employment level has been announced on a global scale. Uzbekistan ranked 114th among 187 countries in this list. These data are presented in the 2025 analytical report of the International Labour Organization.

According to the study, the employment rate in Uzbekistan is 55 percent. This means that slightly more than half of the working-age population is involved in economic activities. This indicator is one of the important criteria reflecting the overall state of the labor market.

Experts note that this result is explained by several factors. In particular, the share of young people in higher and secondary education, the high number of housewives, as well as the share of citizens working in the informal sector affect the overall indicator. That is, employment, which is not reflected in official statistics, also plays an important role.

In the context of CIS countries:

  • Kazakhstan - 67 percent, 29th place;
  • Belarus - 61 percent, 67th place;
  • Russia - 60 percent, 73rd place;
  • Kyrgyzstan - 111th place;
  • Tajikistan is in 175th place.

According to analysts, increasing the employment rate for Uzbekistan remains one of the important factors of economic growth. In this regard, priority tasks include creating new jobs, supporting small businesses, and reducing informal employment.
