New benefits introduced for relatives of Afghanistan victims

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree introducing new social guarantees for the families of citizens killed during military operations in Afghanistan. Under the new regulations, parents and widows of these service members will receive state subsidies to cover a portion of their housing and utility costs. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on bereaved families while enhancing their overall social protection. The move is viewed as both a material benefit and a gesture of moral support from the state.
According to Decree PF-62 adopted by President Mirziyoyev on April 16, 2026, significant changes and additions were made to a number of regulatory legal acts. Within these updates, new social guarantees aimed at supporting the family members of citizens who perished in military operations in Afghanistan have been introduced.
Specifically, it was established that the state will cover a portion of housing and utility service costs for parents and spouses (widows) of military personnel belonging to this category. This is intended to ease their daily living burden and increase the level of social protection.
This decision is viewed as a continuation of complex assistance measures directed at socially vulnerable segments of the population. At the same time, it serves to further strengthen the care and attention provided by the state.
According to experts, such benefits are significant not only as material aid but also as moral support. Through this initiative, the state once again demonstrates its responsibility toward its citizens in practice.
