Kazakhstan surpasses Uzbekistan in happiness ranking
The World Happiness Report 2025 ranking, published annually on March 20 - the International Day of Happiness, has been announced. Finland has been recognized as the happiest country in the world for the eighth consecutive year. Among the countries of Central Asia, Kazakhstan showed the highest result.

This ranking takes into account such criteria as gross domestic product per capita, life expectancy, social support, level of personal freedom, level of corruption and generosity of the population.

The ranking among the Central Asian countries is as follows:

- Kazakhstan is 43rd (up 6 places)
- Uzbekistan is 53rd (down 6 places)
- Kyrgyzstan is 75th (unchanged)
- Tajikistan is 90th (up 2 places)
- Turkmenistan is not included in the ranking.

The United States of America, however, failed to make the top 10, falling to 24th place. Russia rose six places to 66th place, while Ukraine, on the contrary, fell six places to 111th place.

The unhappiest country was recognized as Afghanistan (147th place). Along with it, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi and Zimbabwe were also noted at the bottom of the ranking.
