Burak Deniz: Turkey’s Screen Star — Life, Achievements, and Roles

Turkish actor Deniz was born on February 17, 1991, in Istanbul and grew up in Izmit. He earned his higher education in Art History at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He began his acting journey through school drama clubs and masterclasses, where director Gökçe Doruk Erten discovered him.

Burak Deniz started his television career in 2011 with his debut role in the series “Kolej Günlüğü.” He later appeared in “Medcezir” and “Tatlı Küçük Yalancılar.” His major breakthrough came with the role of Murat Sarsılmaz in “Aşk Laftan Anlamaz.”

From 2017 to 2019, his portrayal of Barış Aktan in “Bizim Hikaye” brought him fame not only in Turkey but also internationally. He later starred in successful series across various genres and platforms, such as “Maraşlı” (2021), “The Ignorant Angels” (2022), and “Şahmaran” (2023). In cinema, he appeared in the films “Arada” (2018) and Netflix’s “Kal” (2022).

In 2018, he received the GQ “Rising Player of the Year” award.

In 2023, he was honored with the “Distinguished International Actor” award, and in 2024, GQ magazine named him “Screen Star of the Year.”

In interviews, Deniz emphasizes the importance of preserving national culture and conveying it to the global audience through emotions and feelings. During his first visit to India, he expressed admiration for Aamir Khan’s work and highlighted the growing international popularity of Turkish art.
