A strong earthquake occurred in the northwestern part of Turkey. According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 was recorded today in the city of Sındırgı, Balıkesir Province.
So far, no fatalities or serious injuries have been reported. However, the tremors of the earthquake were clearly felt in many cities of the country, including Istanbul.
The earthquake occurred at 21:53 Tashkent time. At present, local authorities and emergency services are continuing work to determine the extent of the damage.
Due to the large number of earthquake-prone areas in Turkey, experts are urging the public to take precautionary measures and follow official information channels.
