The US increased the reward for Maduro's capture to 50 million dollars

On the global political stage, the United States of America has once again issued a serious statement. This time the announcement concerns the figure of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, whose activities are being assessed by the US side as a serious threat, reported the US Department of Justice.

According to reports, the US government has again increased the amount of reward designated for information that could assist in capturing Maduro. According to Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Venezuelan leader is included in the list of individuals considered to be “one of the heads of the world’s largest drug trafficking networks.”

She emphasized that this individual’s activities pose a threat not only to the US but also to the safety and stability of the entire region. That’s why the original reward — announced in 2020 as 15 million dollars — was increased to 25 million at the beginning of 2025. Now, the amount has been raised to a serious level: 50 million dollars.

Through this reward, the US government aims to encourage the international community and relevant individuals to help with Maduro’s arrest. This could further activate investigations into his alleged illegal activities.

It is worth recalling that earlier — following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks — US officials announced the same amount, 25 million dollars, for information leading to the capture of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. This time, the figure has doubled.

The US’s latest decision is expected to provoke broad discussions on the international stage. Nicolás Maduro still remains a central figure in Venezuela’s political elite and has been criticized by Western countries for many years.

This means that the US's pressure tactics against him may intensify, and new tensions could arise in the global political climate. So far, no official reaction has come from Venezuela, but the developments are being closely monitored.
