A 29-year-old Uzbek student was arrested in South Korea. According to Chosun, under the guise of a charity project to build wells in Africa, he raised funds and transferred part of them to groups associated with HAMAS and al-Qaeda.
The suspect created fake profiles on social networks, published posts with extremist content, and called for war. The funds were collected in two ways: through cryptocurrency, and in cash through a football club he organized for Uzbeks.
Now he faces up to ten years in prison and a large fine. The investigation is ongoing; the police are trying to determine whether there were other people who assisted the student and where else the collected funds were directed.
